Orca Pod

Hello Quilters,
This is one of the many fabulous new patterns that has just arrived, by Castilleja Cotton. It is machine appliqued, and easily assembled. The finished size is 23" x 16". We have a sample made up in the store, so you can see just how striking it is. I love this little quilt, so I've hung it where I can gaze at it while working on the computer, or working the counter. Come in and take a look, I'm sure you'll love it too!

New Product

Hello Quilters,

I found this great new batting in Oregon, and it'll be arriving at the store this week for you to purchase. We have a sample on hand for you to feel.
It's new from Quilters Dream.

Quilters Dream Green Truly Green Batting Earth-Friendly Recycled Batting that is 100% Green!
Dream Green is a soft, cozy batting made 100% from recycled plastic bottles! Dream Green meets our highest standards of quality, function and performance. Your needles will glide through this unique eco-friendly batting. Finished quilt may be machine-washed and dried with little to no shrinkage. Dream Green is wrinkle-resistant.
Each pound of Dream Green Batting keeps 10 plastic bottles out of our landfills. Plastic bottles are cut into chips, washed, melted and extruded into fine polyester fibers. These recycled fibers are indistinguishable from “virgin” polyester fibers yet are made without depleting our precious natural resources. To avoid additional processing we have kept the soft “natural” green bottle color – but you can rest assured that Dream Green is colorfast and compatible to all your finest quilts and projects.
Dream Green has been carded, crosslapped and needlepunched for uniformity, strength, and resiliency. There is no scrim or resins yet you can stitch up to 12” apart! Utilizing eco-efficient recycling Quilters Dream has developed a wonderful quilt batting that truly accomplishes the meaning of “green.”
GREEN FACTS: Studies show that the energy saved by recycling a single plastic bottle – as compared to producing a new one from scratch – is enough to power a single 60-watt bulb for six hours. The amount of petroleum saved annually by using postconsumer bottles instead of virgin materials in the manufacturing process is enough to supply power to a city the size of Atlanta for an entire year! It is reported the process of recycling plastic bottles results in a 66% reduction of energy consumption, nearly 90% reduction of water usage and reduction of carbon dioxide by 2.5 times.
Dream Green comes in these sizes:
Craft 46" x 36" (keeping 3.5 bottles from the landfill)
Crib 46" x 60" (keeping 5.5 bottles from the landfill)
Throw 60" x 60" (keeping 7 bottles from the landfill)
Twin 93" x 72" (keeping 13 bottles from the landfill)
Double 96" x 93" (keeping 17 bottles from the landfill)
Queen 108" x 93" (keeping 20 bottles from the landfill)
Super Queen 93" x 121" (keeping 24 bottles from the landfill)
King 122" x 122" (keeping 28 bottles from the landfill)
Throw Folded Roll 60" x 30 linear yards (keeping 120 bottles from the landfill)
Queen Folded Roll 93" x 30 linear yards (keeping 200 bottles from the landfill)
King Folded Roll 122" x 30 linear yards (keeping 220 bottles from the landfill)

Hello Quilters,
I really enjoyed my trip, and got to meet a lot of great people. Here I am with Nancy Goldsworthy, Gina Halladay of the Threaded Pear, Debbie Caffrey and Mark Lapinski. The booths were really decorated beautifully, and each one was more exciting then the last. I would say the most popular items were aprons, tote bags and needle felting. I ordered a lot of embellishing items, and I can't wait to start using them. We made a display in the front of the store of all the new products on order, so stop in and see whats new!

Quilt Market Prep

Hello Quilters,

I'm off to Quilt Market in Portland Oregon this week! I'm getting real excited about it. My husband will be going along with me, he's interested in scissor sharpening machines. I'm interested in the business seminars, new patterns, and seeing the new trends! My favorite part is "Sample Spree". It is held on the first night of Market, and the excitement is high. It's where we get the first glimpse of the new fabric lines, patterns, and projects. A lot of the companies have samples for sale, all made up, so you can come home with the patterns, and have a sample ready to display. It is an absolute buying frenzy, and I love it! Every year I run for Anka's Treasures' table. I think she is one of my favorite designers, and she has wonderful samples! My heart quickens just thinking about it. I will try and post pictures to give you an idea of what it's like, so check back during the weekend. Until then, have a Happy Mothers Day!

Janome News!

Hello Quilters,

Janome is proud to announce Marie Osmond’s endorsement of the Memory Craft 11000!

Marie loves this machine, because it allows her to accomplish any sewing task. “The reliability and simplicity of the Janome Memory Craft 11000 gives me the time and the freedom for unlimited creative possibilities. I’m pretty sure a busy woman must have designed this machine!”

Marie Osmond’s life-long passion for quilting is a treasured legacy passed down from her mother, Olive, who showed her only daughter how to turn ordinary scraps of fabric into extraordinary works of art. “For me, sewing is great therapy,” said Marie. “Creating a quilt is not only fun and relaxing, it’s a personal and unique way to connect with others. Some of my best memories are times I spent quilting with my Mom, my children, and my friends, or making a quilt as a gift.”

Janome is honored to have such a talented artist as a spokesperson for its more famous machine.
“Whether you grew up watching ‘The Donny & Marie Show’ or watched her faithfully on ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ you’ve only had a glimpse of Marie’s energy and enthusiasm,” said Jiro Hagiwara, president and CEO of Janome America, Inc. “She brings that enthusiasm and creative energy to everything she does and it makes our partnership with her invaluable.”

Now doesn't that make you want to own one too? Who doesn't want what Marie has?

Corinne

Welcome!

Hello Quilters,

I thought this forum would be a great way to inform you of whats new at CTQS. So what's new? I've been having a blast with the Yo-Yo maker from Clover. I find it very relaxing, and they are so portable. Stop by for a demo, and ideas to how use them. I will try to add what's new everyday. I wanted to get this up and running before Quilt Market ( I leave in 2 weeks). I want to report from market and show you pictures! I hope you enjoy this.
Happy Quilting,
Corinne
